Digitmovies releases for the first time on record the complete score composed by Maestro Stelvio Cipriani for the movie “Un’ombra nell’ombra”. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Pier Carpi (released in 1974 by Editrice Nord). It was directed by the writer himself in 1977, but was screened in the italian cinemas only in 1979, after quite a few production troubles. The movie can be considered a small masterpiece of the esoteric – demoniac genre; Carpi (passed away in 2000) was a deep expert of the esoteric world, he wrote many essays on this matter. In fact only he could turn his novel into images keeping both the fidelity and the alarming aspects that are characteristic for both the movie and novel. “Un’ ombra nell’ombra” is an all “female” movie. Carpi magistrally describes the deep and dramatic restlessnesses of the four female protagonists, who during their youth granted themselves to the devil (in the movie curiously called “Him”). Carpi also pictures the cold diabolical nature of Daria (daughter of one the “witches”), who being aware her superior powers decides to use them against all who dares to hinder her mission. The movie is technically well done, from photography and direction to the winning score by Stelvio Cipriani, whose stereo master tapes have been kept until today in the C.A.M. music archives giving us the opportunity to realize this compact disc. M°Cipriani has written an electronic score (with clear references to the Progressive Rock music) to describe the macabre facts told in the story. For what the original recording sessions concern, M°Cipriani informed us that the keyboard performer was no other than Claudio Simonetti, giving to this score that special Goblin band sound. Only three tracks were issued in 1980 on a very rare C.A.M. library LP: “Deathwatch”, “The hour of the infernal game Pt.1”, “The hour of the infernal game Pt.2”
